Post-Christmas winter is the worst, it's freezing and the only thing you have to look forward to are days that are over 40 degrees. Living in NYC means you don't have the luxury of a car to do most of your commuting and you are often exposed to the elements for longer than you'd like. This makes layers A MUST. Layers were never a priority for me because I hate feeling bulky, but a cute blanket scarf can keep you well insulated and tucking it into your jacket will eliminate some of the suffocating bulk around your neck.
