Black Owned Brands Target
Time for another Black Owned business haul! Doing this series has been an amazing and insightful journey, as I love discovering new-to-me small businesses that make beautiful and exciting pieces. But I also want to take the time to acknowledge that small online businesses are not always accessible to people in day-to-day life. When you run out of coffee grinds or a lipstick, you can't always wait the processing time a small business entails. And just the fact that big-box stores are usually the cheaper option and many people cannot splurge on small businesses for every purchase. So I wanted to highlight the Black Owned brands at one of the most accessible stores I could think of - Target - I had wanted to do Walmart, but I couldn't find ANY consistent Black Owned brands that are sold in multiple stores or online (Can we get a PLEASE DO BETTER WALMART??). Even though Target does offer some brands to choose from, they have repeatedly ignored the call to actions by the 15 Percent Pledge.
So, what can we do to show Target we want more Black Owned brands on their shelves?? On your next target run please consider swapping your go-tos for one of these Black Owned products! We as a society need to show that these businesses deserve to be on their shelves and remember your dollar is one of the most powerful forces you have!
