6 Romantic Comedies to Stream on Netflix for Valentine's Day
Well, it looks like we will all be spending V-Day at home in our pjs this year and honestly I'm not complaining because like why not save money and not brush your hair?? So whether you are spending this weekend with your bae, your besties, or a bottle of wine, you are probably going to want to have something to binge watch. And personally with everything that has happened in the last 12 months, I don't know if I can handle some serious heavy handed drama and I need a movie that is cute, funny, and will leave me happy crying in the end. So these are my favorite rom-coms you can stream on Netflix this weekend for a little escapism.
Set It Up
Two overworked and underpaid assistants come up with a plan to get their bosses off their backs by setting them up with each other.
One of the most refreshing and joyful romantic comedies I have watched in a long time! The cast is A+ and the chemistry between the main characters is too cute.
To All The Boys I've Loved Before
Lara Jean Covey writes letters to all of her past loves, the letters are meant for her eyes only. Until one day when all the love letters are sent out to her previous loves. Her life is soon thrown into chaos when her foregoing loves confront her one by one.
Such a cute and heartwarming story. It's super cheesy but it never fails to make me smile.
Always Be My Maybe
Childhood sweethearts have a falling out and don't speak for 15 years, only reconnecting as adults when Sasha runs into Marcus in San Francisco. Although the old sparks are still there, the couple live in different worlds.
Such a sweet film with two-dimensional characters who have flaws and just make you want to hug them.
Mystic Pizza
Three teenage girls come of age while working at a pizza parlor in the Connecticut town of Mystic.
A classic rom-com that also focuses heavily on female friendships, which is a huge plus in my book!
Easy A
Prompted by her best friend to spill details of her boring weekend, Olive, decides to spice things up by telling a little lie about losing her virginity. When the high-school busybody overhears the conversation and spreads it all over campus, Olive is suddenly notorious but for the wrong reasons.
One of my favorite movies since middle school! One of the smartest, most fun movies that I can't help but smile over. I might just be a literary and 80's movie snob, but this might be best movie ever made?
What a Girl Wants
On a whim, American teenager Daphne boards a plane to England to find the father she never met. Upon arriving there, though, she makes a startling discovery: The man she's looking for is Lord Henry Dashwood, a member of the British upper class, who is running for political office. Lord Henry didn't know Daphne existed, but he welcomes her into his life. However, she isn't so sure -- and his family and his current betrothed look on her disapprovingly.
Okay but like I feel like all Gen Z/ Millennial cusped can agree this movie is perfection and we all wanted to be Daphne growing up (even those of us who had healthy relationships with our fathers). Amanda Bynes is at her peak, Colin Firth is dashing, and it solidified our life goal of having a fling with a British boy.
What are you all watching this weekend?
